Prime Minister Calls for Boost in Agricultural Innovation and Animal Husbandry

Phnom Penh, April 8, 2024: Prime Minister Hun Manet has called on all relevant ministries and institutions in Cambodia to actively contribute to and promote the cultivation, animal husbandry, creative production, and innovation in the country. This initiative aims to transform basic agricultural products into food, art objects, and other items for both domestic and international markets, thereby elevating the living standards of Cambodians.

The announcement was made in a message commemorating the 7th National Day for the Promotion of the Use of Khmer Products, set to be observed on April 9, 2024, under the theme "Sustainable Production and Supply Market is One Village, One Product Movement."

In his address, Prime Minister Manet outlined four critical recommendations to boost the use of Khmer products. He emphasized the need for relevant ministries and institutions to foster the movement of agriculture and animal husbandry, encouraging families, communities, and producers to engage in innovative and dynamic production processes.

Additionally, Manet urged the National Committee for the Promotion of the One Village, One Product Movement and other key ministries to collaborate in organizing activities that promote local product development and market expansion. He highlighted the importance of integrating potential products into the One Village, One Product initiative and establishing a network to address production and market challenges effectively.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister advocated for the organization of exhibitions and sales of Khmer products to facilitate the promotion and sale of Cambodian goods, identifying it as a crucial mechanism to enhance product visibility and market reach.

The Royal Government of Cambodia expressed its appreciation for the efforts of the National Committee for the Promotion of One Village, One Product, and all involved ministries and institutions. Despite facing challenges, significant strides have been made in institutional capacity building, human resource development, product quality enhancement, market expansion, and competitiveness. These efforts are driving positive changes across sectors, fostering a conducive business environment, and marking a significant shift in Cambodia's agricultural and creative production landscape.
